They’re trying to do the opposite of all the hoopla surrounding Katie Couric ’s takeover of CBS Evening News back in 2006! Charles Gibson will be leaving ABC World News on Friday, December 18th with Diane Sawyer swooping in the following Monday on the 21st. With the transition happening just a few days before Christmas as opposed to after the new year in January, ABC is hoping for a low-key change. Sawyer is expected to leave Good Morning America on December 11th and ABC has yet to announce her replacement.
